Application virtualization solutions: What you need to know

Liquidware - Thu, 2019-12-12 11:50
If you’re an avid follower of any of the major sports, then you probably know the names of most of the players. And if you’re planning on placing a bet at the horse races, then you want to know as much about each horse and rider so you can make comparisons that hopefully — wishful thinking, I know — will help you maximize the return on your bet. Not that I ever bet on horses or anything else. I only bet on a sure thing. News Link: Application virtualization solutions: What you need to knowRelated Product: FlexApp

Liquidware To Showcase Adaptive Workspace Management Solutions at AWS re:Invent

Liquidware - Sun, 2019-12-01 23:24

Announces Expanded Partnership with IGEL Technology

LAS VEGAS, NV. - December 2, 2019 - Liquidware, the leader in adaptive workspace management, today announced it will demonstrate its award winning solutions at AWS re:Invent in LG’s booth number 3434. Further, IGEL, provider of the next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces, has now included support for Liquidware’s award winning Stratusphere UX user experience monitoring and diagnostics option in its IGEL OS.

"In the past year we’ve seen many interesting market developments in delivering Windows workspaces and applications as a service from the cloud," said Tyler Rohrer, co-founder and head of Strategic Alliances, Liquidware. "AWS WorkSpaces and AWS AppStream continue to warrant the attention of enterprise customers, especially those with other key cloud services from Amazon. Liquidware’s ability to dynamically deliver the users’ familiar workspace attributes - including attached applications, the user environment, and key user experience metrics - ensures zero downtime migrations and day one user productivity."

Joint Liquidware and AWS WorkSpaces and AppStream customers realize the following benefits:

  • Dynamic application delivery with Liquidware FlexApp attached applications - applications are simply attached directly from a VHD on Amazon S3 storage based on user group or other context aware criteria.
  • Zero downtime migration and comprehensive user environment with Liquidware ProfileUnity - users can simply logoff their legacy desktop or RDS session and logon to Amazon WorkSpaces. Smart user profiles are delivered from Amazon S3 storage and users are instantly productive.
  • User experience assurance with Liquidware Stratusphere UX Monitoring and Diagnostics - know your Amazon SLAs are being met at a glance and how user experience is trending. Diagnose and troubleshoot Amazon WorkSpaces environments quickly for fast problem resolution.

Additionally, Liquidware has expanded its partnership with IGEL that has resulted in the support for Liquidware Stratusphere UX leading monitoring and diagnostics options into the IGEL OS firmware. Liquidware also designed a tailored agent for usage with IGEL OS, which is incorporated into its Stratusphere UX virtual appliance console. The partnership enables joint customers to monitor the user experience all the way to the IGEL OS powered endpoint including any x86 compatible PC, laptop, tablet or IoT device.

"We continue to work with partners such as Liquidware to provide ultimate endpoint user satisfaction," commented Simon Clephan, Vice President, Strategic Alliances, IGEL. "Support for the Stratusphere UX agent in our IGEL OS firmware is another way we are delivering on that goal."

"With easy access to Stratusphere UX within the IGEL OS, organizations will now have one click access to monitoring the end-to-end user experience of cloud-delivered Windows sessions, including relevant information about the endpoint device running IGEL OS," said Mark S. Knouse, senior director of Alliances and System Integration, Liquidware.

IGEL and Liquidware can both be found in the LG Business Solutions booth #3434 at Amazon re:Invent. Appointments during the conference can be arranged in an adjacent meeting suite by contacting alliances@Liquidware.com.

Liquidware recently announced the latest version of Stratusphere UX version 6.1.4.

Liquidware - Tue, 2019-11-26 12:12
Major organizations will continue to adopt cloud hosted Windows desktops in 2020, and it's no longer a matter of "if" but "when" that will happen. The leading enabling platforms - Amazon WorkSpaces, Microsoft WVD, and Nutanix Xi Frame - are now mature enough, and the use cases now are too prevalent, for massive desktop cloud adoption not to happen. 2020 will continue to see large customers adopt these platforms, as well as Citrix and VMware cloud desktop transformations. Liquidware Delivers Just-In-Time Apps, Zero-downtime Migrations for MS WVD

Liquidware - Wed, 2019-10-09 12:49

Selected as inaugural ecosystem partner, Liquidware solutions seamlessly support Microsoft's newly launched Windows Virtual Desktops.

Chicago, IL. - October 9, 2019 - Liquidware, the leader in adaptive workspace management, today announced support for Microsoft WVD. Liquidware is an inaugural value-added partner for Microsoft’s WVD platform. With a decade long reputation in the virtual and cloud-based desktop industry, Liquidware provides critical solutions that hasten new workspace adoption. The company’s User Management, Application Layering, and Monitoring and Diagnostics offerings are ideally suited for Microsoft WVD.

Liquidware’s FlexApp layering is a key solution to assist in WVD deployments. FlexApp streamlines base- image management by dynamically attaching applications as VHD layers from Microsoft Azure cloud storage to users’ WVD workspaces. A video demonstration of Microsoft WVD and FlexApp layering can be seen here.

FlexApp is a perfect complement to Microsoft’s forthcoming MSIX App Attach technology. FlexApp provides a single point of delivery for MSIX applications as well as any other native current or legacy application type including MSI, App-V, and EXE applications and installers.

Scott Manchester, principal engineering lead for WVD at Microsoft recently discussed the partnership with TechRepublic saying, "Take a solution provider like Liquidware, who provides a variety of different layering solutions. They now will be able to take an App-V package, an MSIX package or their layers and through a single portal allow customers to choose which option they want to make those apps available to end users in their web environment."

FlexApp’s flexibility in supported application types and enterprise functionality leads the industry with advanced features including:

  • The highest application compatibility - 90% or greater
  • Seamless compatibility with complex applications, including those with drivers and services dependencies
  • Zero isolation – FlexApp attached applications are not isolated and therefore have native interaction capabilities with Windows and other applications
  • FlexApps work across any supported Windows OS with no need to repackage applications
  • FlexApps are flexible and can be attached at boot, login, with Click-to-Layer™, or by context-aware filter
  • FastPackaging™ technology - enabling applications to easily be packaged in the same time it takes to install the application one-time

Another key advantage is provided by Liquidware ProfileUnity that supports seamless migrations to WVD. Using the solution, organizations can experience zero downtime when switching users’ workspaces to this platform. A video demonstration of Microsoft WVD with FSLogix and ProfileUnity can be seen here. Moreover, the solution can on-board users to FSLogix profile containers on WVD and Windows multi-session 10 EVD from other Microsoft operating systems or virtual desktop platforms.

"Our adaptive workspace management solutions add significant value to WVD through benefits such as streamlined base image management and a seamless co-existence or migration from any other desktop platform. We also complement FSLogix deployments by enabling cross-OS compatibility and quick backup and restore of FSLogix profile containers from Azure," stated J. Tyler Rohrer, co-founder and Director of Strategic Alliances at Liquidware. "Having been selected as an inaugural ecosystem partner when WVD was first announced in September 2018, we are now ‘locked and loaded’ to assist customers and partners to move to WVD. We envision our solutions being key to enabling WVD rapid adoption in the coming months."

Customers reviewing WVD are eligible for trial licenses of all solutions in Liquidware’s Adaptive Workspace Management suite known as Liquidware Essentials. For customers looking at general information on WVD and the cost ramifications, Liquidware has authored a white paper that includes a cost calculator to assist organizations in their understanding of the benefits of WVD.
