Liquidware Announces Stratusphere UX v6.6

Mon, 2022-03-28 20:41

New Version Provides Greater Visibility into Work From Anywhere Environments

Chicago, IL. - March 29, 2022 - Liquidware, the leader in digital workspace management, today announced version 6.6 of Stratusphere™ UX, its premier digital experience monitoring solution.

This latest version includes the following critical features and metrics:

Windows 11 Hardware Compatibility Inventory

Last fall, Microsoft released the Windows 11 operating system. The new OS places restrictions on key resource components, including CPU Clock, Core #, bit width & generation, RAM, Display size, resolution, Direct X 12/WDDM 2, & Color Depth, and Security (UEFI & TPM 2.0), among others. Stratusphere UX collects information on each one of these restrictions for each machine in the company fleet to determine upgrade compatibility with this OS. It highlights each incompatibility after evaluating it. This provides guidance for planning whether to perform in place upgrades or image refresh that would involve reinstalling applications and/or restoring data.

Work from Anywhere Metrics

New Work From Anywhere (WFx) metrics have been added to Stratusphere UX 6.6, including machine location, user input delay and machine local user accounts. These metrics provide detailed information as to the exact location the user on the machine is working at as well as how well their local device is performing remotely. Now, issues arising due to location & distance that could cause slow latency are easier to identify. In addition, the local user accounts data indicates whether there are multiple user accounts on the local machine, their status (enabled/disable/locked), when did they login last, and, most importantly, if any of them have administrative privileges. Local accounts with administrative privileges create a potential security issue. Domain accounts can be managed remotely but local accounts present another security attack surface that could result in leakage of sensitive data for the organization.

Dashboard Widget Enhancement

A new Sankey Diagram widget has been added to the Dashboards, displaying data relationships in a one-to-many, many-to-many, and many-to-one visualization. This widget displays the interrelation of digital workspace components including application names, process names, versions, destination IP, machines, processes, and users in a digital workspace environment.

Updated OS

As part of its continued focus on security, Stratusphere UX now runs on Oracle Linux 8 operating system that replaced CentOS 8. The new Oracle Linux 8 operating system provides widespread compatibility across virtual and cloud platforms and has universally accepted Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) for compliancy within FED and DoD environments.

Grace Krokidas, CMO at Liquidware stated, "This latest version of Stratusphere UX fulfills recent feature requests from customers to gain further visibility into their users’ remote environments. This is critical in today’s WFx scenarios. As an authority and pioneer in this space, Liquidware continues to deliver enhancements and innovation in digital experience monitoring."

Liquidware and IGEL announced the results of a study authored by independent analysts Freeform Dynamics that shows how the rapid migration to work-from-home (WFH) during the COVID-19 pandemic made it harder, more complex and costly to deliver, support and secure digital workspaces, while at the same time creating new opportunities to turn disruption into transformation, today and in the future. New Study Reveals How Desktop Delivery is Evolving in the Post-Pandemic Era

Wed, 2022-03-23 21:42

The Liquidware and IGEL sponsored study shows how the rapid migration to work-from-home during COVID-19 created a paradigm shift in how digital workspaces are delivered, supported and secured.

Chicago, IL and SAN FRANCISCO - March 24, 2022 - Liquidware, the leader in digital workspace management and IGEL, provider of IGEL OS, the endpoint operating system designed for VDI and DaaS, today announced the results of a study authored by independent analysts Freeform Dynamics that shows how the rapid migration to work-from-home (WFH) during the COVID-19 pandemic made it harder, more complex and costly to deliver, support and secure digital workspaces, while at the same time creating new opportunities to turn disruption into transformation, today and in the future.

The report, "Modernizing the Digital Workplace" looks at what organizations are doing today to prepare for the future of work with new desktop delivery models and a set of platform and management solutions designed to accommodate change quickly and efficiently.

Key findings from the study confirm that the short-term success of the switch to WFH came with longer-term costs -- technical and governance ‘debts’ that must now be ‘repaid.’ Yet, IT departments that choose to adopt modern desktop delivery models and platforms are more likely to see better outcomes in areas such as user satisfaction, cost of ownership, manageability, and security.

Need to Act Quickly Drove Most WFX Transitions

The COVID-19 pandemic, according to the report, created a ground swirl of activity for enabling WFH that was significantly influenced by the following factors:

  • The need to act very quickly to keep the business running – 80%
  • Pressure to keep additional costs and overheads to a minimum – 73%
  • Supplier shortages of equipment limiting options – 72%
  • Need to minimize end user training requirements – 72%
  • Keep things as simple and supportable as possible – 70%
  • Short-term pragmatics trumping long-term strategy – 68%

Majority of Organizations Today Are Adopting or Planning Modern Desktop Delivery Solutions Additionally, the report explores the different ways organizations delivered digital workspaces to users and what stands in the way of progress today, including technical debt, employee resistance to change and senior managers priorities lying elsewhere.

The vast majority of respondents (>65%) are either considering or are implementing the following tactics to move their end user computing environment forward:

  • Reduce dependency on ‘fat-client’ computing model
  • Automate more of their delivery, monitoring and management activities
  • Adopt platforms designed to support modern desktop/application delivery.

“Our research confirms that the rapid shift to hybrid working has left IT teams -- and especially desktop admin teams -- more over-worked and stressed than ever,” stated Bryan Betts, Principal Analyst at Freeform Dynamics. “It also shows that if you carry on trying to do desktop delivery the old way, but in a hybrid world, there are clear risks that you'll see higher costs, increased security challenges, decreased flexibility and agility, and ultimately lower user satisfaction. Fortunately, when we dug into the data, our research also suggests a potential solution: use the hybrid transition and the need to pay back technical debt as an inflection point - as the opportunity to transform and modernize the desktop delivery process. There's a whole raft of ways to do this, such as thinner desktops and automated user management, but essentially they boil down to using modern technologies to build in greater consistency, flexibility, and security.”

IGEL and Liquidware will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday, April 12 at 11am (CST) with Bryan Betts, Principal Analyst at Freeform Dynamics; Simon Townsend, Chief Marketing Officer, IGEL and Jason E. Smith, VP Products and Alliances, Liquidware; to discuss the findings from the report, lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, and opportunities created by the WFH, work-from-anywhere (WFx) and hybrid working revolutions. Survey Methodology

The global online survey of 257 senior IT professionals from a range of industries in Germany, the UK and the United States was sponsored by Liquidware and IGEL and conducted by industry analyst firm Freeform Dynamics. ProfileUnity Enables Seamless Migration to New Microsoft Operating Systems Assists with Business Continuity for Workspace Resiliency.

Chicago, IL. – February 22, 2022 - Liquidware, the leader in digital workspace management, today announced its leading User Environment Management solution, ProfileUnity™, now provides support for both Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022. ProfileUnity’s unique Profile Portability feature enables a zero user downtime experience when migrating to Windows 11/Server 2022.

“For enterprise organizations planning an upgrade path for multiple thousands of users can result in user downtime that can have a huge impact on the business,” commented Jason E. Smith, VP Alliances and Product Marketing, Liquidware. “When leveraging ProfileUnity’s Profile Portability feature, at login, user profiles are dynamically adapted to their new Windows 11 environment. This saves organizations time, money, and effort and provides an optimal user experience. The new feature set also enables non-stop workspace resiliency, which is paramount for today’s ‘work from anywhere’ requirements.”

ProfileUnity dynamically evolves user profiles to Windows 11 and enables them to co-exist with older OS versions, thus allowing for a phased upgrade/migration approach. The latest version of ProfileUnity has the following functionality:

  • Support for Windows 11
  • Support for Windows Server 2022
  • A new “Path Overrides” feature to help manage environments that lack a global name space in their Active Directory setup. This feature is especially helpful in POD architecture and Active Active designs, helping ensure business continuity for enterprises with modern workspace infrastructure

  • 12% are planning to migrate in the first half of 2022
  • 41% are planning to migrate in the second half of 2022 and
  • 41% are planning to migrate sometime during 2023
